Frei leaves national team

It has been reported that Seattle Sounders goalkeeper Stefan Frei has been sent home from the United States national team after having been injured during a training session.

The player was in a training camp in Los Angeles and has been sent back to Seattle for treatment.

This will be a disappointment for the player as he was looking to use this training camp to establish himself as a valuable member of the team. Indeed he has already attracted praises from the United States national team coach Bruce Arena who has described him as an accomplished professional.

Arena said that Stefan Frei has been quite impressive so far and that he has been consistent as well in his performance. Arena stated that he was looking to try Frei in competitive matches and see how he would behave in real games.

Stefan Frei said he is disappointed with the injury as he would have love to complete the training camp with the national team. He is, however, satisfied with the way he has performed during the camp and said that he had enjoyed the training.

Seattle Sounders has not made any statement on the injury as they await medical reports to assess the gravity of the situation. They will be hoping that the injury is not that serious as they will be starting their pre-season matches in two weeks.

Stefan Frei will also be hoping that he could recover in time for the two international friendlies that will see the United States national team face Serbia on the 29th of January and also play against Jamaica on the 3rd of February.

We will have to wait for the medical reports to find out the extent of the injury and also know for how long he will be absent from the pitch.
