Podolski Confident Arsenal Can Lift FA Cup

Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski appears extremely confident that the club will be able to lift the first piece of silverware in nine years when they take on Hull city in the FA Cup final. The FA Cup represents the last trophy that the club won back in 2005. Since moving to the Emirates stadium in 2006, they have failed to win any major title. Arsenal have even failed to win in the Champions League final when they lost to Barcelona in 2006. Despite the repeated failures, Podolski appears confident that the club will be able to lift the title against Hull.

Arsenal will be going into the match as the overwhelming favourites after having finished the league campaign strongly. The return of players like Podolski, Aaron Ramsey, and Jack Wilshere has helped them overcome the poor form during the months of February and March. People are already anticipating another Arsenal failure after pictures of Arsenal’s parade bus were leaked online. There have been several instances of such pre-planned celebrations being put to shame with Liverpool’s Champions League bus in 2007. Podolski has just started getting his form back and he has been starting some matches for the club.

He suffered a long-term injury at the start of the season and missed most of the campaign.

“We are on a good run and are favourites. We play very well in the last five or six matches so we go to Wembley with thousands of our fans and we must play like in our last matches. The FA Cup is a big cup with a lot of history — it is not like the other cups in other leagues. So it is an important game and when I win the FA Cup, it will be a great cup for me when I look back after my career,” said the striker.
